March 2002: InnovationNetwork and Imaginatik Launch Research in Corporate Innovation
SANTA BARBARA, CA (28 March, 2002) – The InnovationNetwork, sponsored by Imaginatik, is launching the Innovation Roundtable, a ground-breaking research project to determine emergent best practice for corporate innovation.
Innovation management is the process, culture and leadership techniques used by large companies to innovate, creating new products and services, improving processes and customer satisfaction, and reducing costs.
The Roundtable project involves a proactive approach to collecting and sharing insight and knowledge from a select group of medium to large companies. The InnovationNetwork has identified a number of 'hot topics' on innovation, such as measuring the ROI of innovation and gaining executive support. Leading practitioners will share their insights, opinions and methods through an interview process. The best practice is distilled and shared through e-mail and an online discussion forum, and the highlight of the Roundtable is a series of teleconferences to debate the findings and to make specific recommendations.
The main benefit to this approach is rapid learning. "Companies are doing some great things right now, but it will take another year or two before the books come out. Practitioners should not have to wait that long", says Joyce Wycoff, founder of the InnovationNetwork. Members of the Roundtable can expect to learn more on leading edge activities at companies including Kodak, Bristol-Myers Squibb, General Mills, Datex-Ohmeda, and Air Products & Chemicals.
