August 2002: Imaginatik Announces Release of Idea Central 3.0

BOSTON, MA (5 August, 2002) - Idea Collaboration and Review Enhanced with Release of Idea Central 3.0

Imaginatik announce the immediate availability of Idea Central 3.0, a major release of the leading web-based idea management software.

Idea management involves harnessing the collective brainpower of employees and selected external participants to generate and develop business ideas, and to evaluate and select the top ideas for implementation. Typical uses include new product development, process improvement and cost reduction projects.

The new features of Idea Central include co-author support for team ideas, extended search capabilities to improve idea quality and reduce duplicates, and improved ‘challenge’ functionality to help focus people’s creativity on business-related problems. The application also includes upgraded security features, and full integration with Imaginatik’s recently announced Portal Module and Rewards Module. Together with the add-on modules, the new version of the software extends the idea generation and management process and helps embed innovation best practices into an organization.

The main benefits for customers are improved idea collection and an increase in the quality of implementable ideas. "The leading companies are looking for a small number of high impact ideas, rather than lots of little ideas", according to Mark Turrell, CEO of Imaginatik.

Idea Central is currently in use in companies in pharmaceuticals, consumer goods, chemicals, manufacturing, professional services, financial services and government. Customers include Bristol-Myers Squibb, Mott's and Teck Cominco.

Version 3.0 is available for installed and hosted customers and is also available as part of the Event Package rental version of Idea Central. The product is available in English and Spanish, with a French version planned for end 2002.
