Client Situation
Cargill is one of the largest privately held companies in the world, with over 124,000 employees in 59 countries. An international provider of food, agricultural, and risk management products and services - Cargill sells thousands of products, operates hundreds of businesses and partners with dozens of other companies, many of whom are leaders in their industries.
Cargill has been a client of Imaginatik since 2004 and has been deploying Idea Central across the entire company. Idea management became a hot topic in 2001 as a new company strategy shifted the organization away from commodities to higher margin products. At one point Cargill identified over 30 internally developed Idea Management software systems - the need was so great, everyone built their own. However lack of compatibility, high maintenance costs, and lack of structure meant that this approach could not be maintained, and Idea Central was quickly idenfitied as the ideal solution for this distributed organization.
