The Portfolio Monitor for your Idea Central solution gives leaders, managers, and participants the ability to monitor the implementation of ideas, projects and concepts as they evolve.
Ideas and concepts can be moved from an Idea Central instance to the Portfolio Monitor or uploaded directly from another source. Once a concept is in the Portfolio Monitor, it is converted into a project by assigning a tracking form and project team. The project team then maintains the tracking form as the project progresses, using an unlimited number of automated e-mail alerts to drive projects through the implementation process and keep stakeholders informed.
Before implementing this tool, Imaginatik will lead a two-day process design workshop. This will help design your tracking process and custom project form. Imaginatik will also host Portfolio Monitor Training, during which you will learn how to move ideas into the Portfolio Monitor, create projects and manage them through your process. This training will also include instruction on how to configure the administrative options.
Benefits
After an idea-generating activity, top ideas are usually selected for implementation and transitioned to a project manager or other person responsible. It can then be difficult for Idea Central sponsors, managers, and participants to keep track of the ideas as they progress through the implementation process.
The Portfolio Monitor gives all Idea Central users visibility into the implementation of top ideas, concepts and projects from your Collective Intelligence efforts. It can also help leaders quantify the benefits realized from Idea Central activities, specific events and initiatives they sponsored.
Some companies have a well-established project management discipline, while others may have no formal process or tools. Information gaps can arise in either case. As a result, leaders cannot quantify the benefits generated from their innovation activities, or contributors may lose sight of their ideas.
Portfolio Monitor helps eliminate these gaps by establishing a standard process for tracking projects and benefits that result from innovation activities. It also ensures a higher project completion percentage by exposing project responsibility and automating workflow alerts for team members.
